A giant, cuddly wooly mammoth with a larger than life personality. Manny’s finished size will vary greatly depending on the yarn used, so the size can change dramatically depending on your yarn choice.
The Story
Manny is one of the most unique projects I’ve ever made, and he will always have a special place in my heart. I made him as one of my first handmade gifts for a friend who is a huge Utah Hockey fan, and I wanted to make him look like the Utah Hockey Mammoths logo before they had even announced what their mascot would look like.
I used a 25 mm hook to crochet him together, and the sewing alone took a few hours. I also made the eyes from scratch using resin, which was such a fun part of the project. I loved making Manny so much that I’ve been wanting to make another project this big just to keep as a giant cuddle buddy for myself.
CHNKY Note
My friend came with me to pick out the yarn, and I didn’t realize just how thick it was until I finished one leg and realized what I had gotten myself into. We decided to go for it anyway, and Manny ended up weighing over 15 pounds. I definitely got an arm workout making this one.
