Vexley is a voidscale dragon — deep purple shading into black, with wings that open wider than you expect for a creature that fits in two hands. I made him as a pattern test for @mo2designs, which means I worked through the instructions before release and fed notes back to the designer.

The wings were the part I kept coming back to. Getting the membrane to sit flat without curling took a few attempts at tension before it behaved. The spine ridges are worked separately and sewn down one at a time, which is slow going but it’s what gives him that hard silhouette instead of a soft lump.

He stands on his own, holds a pose, and has safety eyes set deep enough that the brow reads as a scowl. If you want a dragon in different colors — an ice one, or something acid green — that’s an easy change to make.
